DELIVERED: WHAT CAN WORDS DO? (by Ola Writes on getting his signed copy)

Image
I don't  have to open it Already, I can feel it "What Can Words Do?" you asked, isn't it? To tell you the truth, exactly how I feel it Am afraid to read it... I don't want my eyes to pollute it The magic words carved inside it If the secret answer, I must find it Sir KIS, I must be brave to read it. ------------ I received it, And it seem as if you, yourself handed it. Even the paper you wrapped it, with is treasured, and so I will keep it.

SHE WILL NEVER FORGET

Its the Devil's fault you say, For forgiveness you pray. Tears wash your ugly face, "Temptation was the case" So they forgive your sin, Bloody, you leave the scene. Spared death, reprieve you get; Weeks go by, people forget...

#WHATcanWORDSdo? UNVEILING IN PICTURES: THANK YOU FRIENDS

Image
Who is a friend Ask David and Jonathan  Who is a friend Ask Caesar and Brutus This is to say a big thank you to all my friends, fans, family, and all well wishers who helped make the unveiling of 'WHAT CAN WORDS DO?' a huge success. Life teaches us lessons atimes, good ones, bad ones and sometimes, a mix. In my case, as regards the unveiling of #WhatCanWordsDo?, it was a mix- a pleasant mix like orange and lime. People whom I took as demi-gods turned out to be puffed up balloons, bursting with no one pricking and those I saw as plastic disposable cups turned out to be kingly gold jugs. Glory be to God, it was a success in many ways than one. I have God to thank for that, but he did not come down to help me, he used breathing humans. Honestly some people just outdid themselves and gave me courage to keep doing good (If I am already) and this is a promise to them to never falter, and if I falter to regain balance as quickly as any human can.

RAINS

Image
The clouds are too busy weeping to see that we are soaked to our ragged pants and our genitals have retracted into their shells, like irked snails. Whose lips shall then mouth the needed protest, being already busy with mournful mumblings? Of which shall I tell you, now that you bother to inquire about these endless rains ; One threadlike, one windy One saltened, one like dew...? Do not let me torment your eardrums for my words will itch like grandma’s yam water.

Nigeria's revolutionary poet Kukogho unveils new collection 'What Can Words Do?'

Image
culled from ENVISION NIGERIA ‘Do not judge a book by its cover’ is a common saying but this new collection of poems, ‘What Can Words Do?’ from one of Nigeria’s most talented young poets and founder of Nigeria’s most popular online social orientation poetry forum, Kukogho Iruesiri Samson’s, is a deserved exception to this rule.   One glance at its unique cover and you would know instantly what to expect. From the mind probing title to the simple cover design and eye friendly color mix, to the unique style of expression in the poems, exploring new styles and approaches to poetry, the book is arguably Nigeria’s most attractive collection of poems.  The poems in the collection highlight issues of leadership, politics, marriage, and women abuse, destruction of the earth, war, peace, religion and love.  “The book is an attempt to show what words can do in a society where a lot is wrong, from the privacy of our homes to the streets and corridors of power,” Kukogho said. “It is a

IN THE LAPS OF DELILAH

In the laps of Delilah, Where pleasures abound, There the pits are And there snares are found. There in her flawless laps, In the smoothness that there be, And her warmth-yielding taps, Lies traps no greedy eyes can see.

A STROLL WITH KUKOGHO IRUESIRI SAMSON (For Writers Day by Wikina Ebenezer)

[Culled from  Write Paragraphs]   Hello, my name is Ebenezar, welcome to the stroll. The challenge of every young writer out there is finding a platform; that stage where they can stand up and make their voices heard, and for over the years no one has really been willing to build that stage. My guest on the stroll today hasn't just thrilled readers with the works of his pen, but has also touched the lives of young writers around Nigeria. Using the rising popularity of social media as his primary tool, sir KIS (as he is popularly known on social media) has built a large literary family online— Words, Rhymes, and Rhythm —armed with their quill and ink J to combat any social vice that raises its ugly head. Kukogho (@BrainyPoet)  is a Nigerian writer, blogger, multimedia journalist, and social media expert. I admire him greatly, and I strongly believe in his dream of re-writing the world, one verse at a time. I really had fun strolling with him as we talked about writing, writ
