#NaijaPhotoWalk’ – Please Support This Young Nigerian’s Photography Journey
One of the reasons many Nigerian youths remain unemployed/stagnated for very long, despite accumulating degrees (aside the fact that there are few jobs), is that they are blinded by the assumption that a degree = to employment.
Another is the notion that nothing else is worth pursuing once you have secured a degree. So they wait and wait and wait for jobs that are either not there or they are not qualified for. All is futile.
There are however a few youths who realize early enough, that some opportunities are more than degrees, that inside (or around) them are ‘developable’ skills that are more profitable and satisfying than degree-based jobs. These people do fine for themselves.
One of them is Emebiriodo Peterson Ugochukwu Hitch, a graduate who studied English Language and Literature at University of Port Harcourt.

He is presently a Literary Reporter at Poets in Nigeria (maybe not a paying job) and, more importantly, a freelance (amateur) photographer.
Instead of idling away at home, ‘Hitch of Life’ is honing his photography skills and is now about to start his nationwide Street Photography tour which he tagged ‘Naija Photo Walk’.
According to him, the purpose of the Walk is to ‘tell the Nigerian story through pictures’. It is also important to note that all his pictures will be ‘auctioned to raise money for charity.’ How noble!
It is for this reason that I beseech you to be part of this.

There are 3 ways you can help this young man's dreams:
- Support him with token donations (even N500). His account details are: 0031992277, Emebiriodo Ugochukwu, Access Bank. Nothing is too small or too much.
- Follow his journey on his Social Media and Help him Share, Retweet, Report, Like his pictures on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc with the #tag #ThePhotographyTour and/or #NaijaPhotoWalk.
- Offer him accommodation/lunch/support when he visits your state/town.
Even if you cannot offer him anything, you can at least recommend places you think he should photograph in your environs.
His tour will begin on the 2nd of May, 2016 and he needs all the help he can get. Remember that one dream actualized is one less idle mind to worry about! Do this for him, me and every young dreamer out there.
